Night shift: coding agents that work while you sleep
Queue the work you didn’t finish today and let agents run through it overnight, one by one or in parallel. In the morning you get one report with each task’s result, the draft pull requests opened and anything that got stuck.
This feature is in the Pro and Team plans. On the free plan it shows as locked; sign in with your AgentVera account and upgrade to unlock it. Compare plans
How it works
Open it from the Night shift button on the home screen or from the command palette. Add tonight’s tasks, then queue them or start right away.
- The default window is 23:00–07:00; “start automatically every night” runs it on its own.
- Two tasks run at once by default, up to six; the agent can be Claude Code or Codex.
- Each task runs in its own worktree on a night/<date>-<slug> branch.
- A draft pull request is opened on GitHub for finished work.
Rules for the agent
The agent is told you are asleep: it must not ask questions, it commits but does not push, runs the tests and ends with a done or stuck marker. If it stops without a marker it is nudged up to twice, then marked stuck. Tasks waiting for an approval are not approved overnight; they are listed in the morning report.
Morning report
When the window ends you get a desktop notification and the report is saved as a Markdown file. With Telegram on, a summary is sent too; it carries counts only (done, PRs opened, stuck, still running), not task titles.
Questions
Does it run while my computer is off?
No. The night shift needs the app open and the computer awake.
Will the agent push to my main branch?
No. The agent is told not to push; the work stays on its night/ branch and the app opens a draft pull request for it.
What happens to a task that needs approval at night?
It isn’t approved; it waits and shows up in the morning report.
How many tasks run at once?
Two by default, up to six. Each runs in its own worktree, so they don’t touch each other’s files.
