Auto approval for Claude Code: safe work doesn’t wait
When Claude Code asks for approval for every file read or test run, your agents end up waiting on you. Auto approval answers only the requests known to be safe; everything else goes to the approval queue as usual.

On by default, works on Pro and Team
The “approve safe requests automatically” switch in the Auto approval settings is on by default, but it only takes effect on the Pro and Team plans; on the free plan the switch looks on and requests still come to you. It works with Claude Code agents only and answers requests Claude would have asked about anyway; your own Claude allow and deny rules still apply.
What gets approved without asking
Reads and reversible work are approved; anything that changes things or is unclear is asked.
- Read tools: Read, Glob, Grep, LS, NotebookRead, TodoWrite/TodoRead, WebSearch and the AgentVera board.
- Read-only Bash commands and read-only git commands (status, diff, log…).
- Test, lint, typecheck and build commands with npm, pnpm, yarn, bun, tsc --noEmit, eslint, vitest, jest, pytest, mypy, ruff, go, cargo, dotnet, mvn, gradle and make.
- Commands with redirects (>), $() or backticks are never approved automatically.
File edits and the never list
“Also approve file edits inside the project” is off by default. When on, only Edit and Write inside the project or the agent’s worktree are approved, never .git or .env files. The never-approve list starts with git push, npm publish, rm, git reset --hard and git clean, and you can add your own. Recent auto approvals are listed for the current session only.

Which agents does it work with?
Claude Code agents only.
Can I turn it off?
Yes. Switch off “approve safe requests automatically” in the Auto approval settings; it is on by default.
Does it work on the free plan?
No. The switch shows as on by default, but auto approval only takes effect on the Pro and Team plans.
What about my own Claude rules?
They still apply. AgentVera only answers requests Claude would have asked about anyway.
Can an agent change a file without asking?
Only if “also approve file edits inside the project” is on and the file is inside the project or worktree. .git and .env files are never approved automatically.
